WE BELIEVE IN TEACHING YOUNG MEN how to be with the land, the water and the sky, how to be with one another, and ultimately how to be with themselves. We believe that our canoe trips are more than adventure summer camps, they are an excellent metaphor for life's journey and represent an important rite of passage into adulthood.
Welcome to Langskib. What began as a small wilderness canoe camp with six canoes, eight boys, and a dream, has grown to include sixty young men, a second island for girls and coed summer camp programs, Excalibur- a boy's first adventure camp, plus a variety of Waldorf camps, adult programs, school groups and wilderness trips for boys and girls of all ages.
Each summer people travel from all over the world to participate in these unique canoeing adventures. From our picturesque island summer camp in the heart of Ontario's Temagami Forest Reserve, our wilderness canoe trips take us through some of the most rugged and beautiful country in the world.
Young men choose Langskib because it represents the challenge, freedom from regimentation, and "down to earth living" which are often lacking in contemporary life.
We make certain however, that along with these methods, we do not embrace an attitude of conquest of a particular river, mountain or place. We believe that the emphasis should be upon our need to learn from the land in a spirit of harmony, balance and trust.
